OUR VISION: All Calaveras County children will enter school safe, healthy, and ready to learn.

MISSION: Facilitate partnerships and fund strategies that strengthen families and support them in raising healthy children age 0-5.

PRIORITY AREAS: Strong Families, Healthy Children, Children Learning and Ready for School, Systems Integration and Collaboration.

Strengthening Families Mini-Grants Open August 31st!

First 5 Calaveras and Prevent Child Abuse Council Announce 2026-27 Strengthening Families Mini-Grants

First 5 Calaveras and the Prevent Child Abuse Council (PCAC) Calaveras will accept applications for the 2026-27 Strengthening Families Mini-Grants beginning August 31, 2026. The program funds local activities that support early childhood development and strengthen families.

Grants are split into two categories:

First 5 Funding (Ages 0-5): Up to $2,000 for playgroups, $1,000 for free community events, and $500 for county libraries.
PCAC Funding (Ages 0-18): Up to $500 for activities supporting Strengthening Families Protective Factors.

Calaveras County public agencies, schools, and 501(c)3 nonprofits are eligible to apply. Private entities and community groups may also apply for playgroup funds.

Applications open August 31, 2026, and are due by September 21, 2026, for first-round reviews in October. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until funds are fully awarded. Contact First 5 Calaveras after November 1 to check remaining fund availability.
